WHAT IS COPYRIGHT ACT?

WHAT IS DMCA?
- Digital Millenium Copyright Act
- is a Federal Law established in 1998. It criminaliged the development or use of software that makes it possible for people to access materials that are copyright protected, like music files, DVD's, or software programs. It also makes it criminal to disseminate copyright protected materials.
- is a legistation enacted by United States Congress in October 1998 that made major changes to the US Copyright Act. These changes were necessary in part to bring US Copyright Law into compliance with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performance Phonograms Treaty. The DMCA also strengthened the legal protection of intellectual property rights in the wake of emerging new information communication technologies, i.e, the Internet.
